Amazon todayannouncedchanges to its grocery delivery service design to make ordering from Amazon Fresh more competitive with rivals like Instacart , Walmart , Target - own Shipt , DoorDashand others . The company says that , now , customer will no longer need an Amazon Prime rank to tell groceries from Amazon Fresh for delivery or complimentary pickup . The expansion will be usable everywhere Amazon Fresh is offered across the U.S. , and a similar option will soon be available to Whole Foods shoppers , as well .
The retailer did n’t indicate a specific time frame as to when food market deliverance or pickup would be useable for Whole Foods without a Prime membership . However , it noted that after this latter part of the grocery expansion is finish , customers in more than 3,500 U.S. metropolis and towns would have the choice of ordering two - hour foodstuff delivery from either Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market , depending on availability .
