Amazon is making a sizable investing to support new and existing Amazon Web Services ( AWS ) customers in Chile .
The technical school conglomerateannouncedon Wednesday that it will pour more than $ 4 billion into building an AWS substructure part of data kernel in Chile by the destruction of 2026 .
The investment will go toward establishing three handiness zones , or groups of isolated data center , in the fresh AWS region . Amazon say it also plans to hire and educate local talent to operate and support its area in Chile .
“ The AWS South America ( Chile ) Region will help serve the tight - get need for cloud services across Latin America and in Chile with secure , authentic , and efficient cloud base , ” Prasad Kalyanaraman , VP of infrastructure services at AWS , say in a financial statement . “ With the new AWS Region , organization will have the power to build up with advanced AWS technologies , like artificial tidings and machine learnedness , to help accelerate growth , productiveness , and innovation . ”
AWS already has legion client in Chile , admit LATAM Airlines , Agrosuper , and Andrés Bello National University .
This is n’t the first sentence Amazon has invested in AWS base and services in Chile .
In 2021 , Amazon launched AWS Outposts in Chile , which helped extend on - premises admittance to AWS in the nation . In 2023 , the company gave client the ability to leverage private connectivity between AWS and their data point core or offices . That same year , Amazon rolled out AWS Local Zones to help client connect to very - low - rotational latency AWS offerings .
