Androidis losing one of its recollective - clip engineering leads . Dave Burke , VP of applied science at Android , say on Thursday that he is step down from the role after 14 years . However , he is not leave behind Alphabet and will be exploring “ AI / bio ” projection within the troupe .

Burke ’s move follows a slew of layoffs and restructuring at Alphabet this year . In a letter to his colleague , which Burke also bring out on LinkedIn , he order he want to search the role of AI in boost drug discovery .
“ AI has the potential to play a pivotal role in accelerating drug find , with wide pertinence , including in hard - to - treat paediatric malignant neoplastic disease , a subject close to my heart . I ’m working with Sundar to explore relevant roles at Alphabet , ” he said .
