Apple has finally added support for Rich Communication Services ( RCS ) to its Messages app . The feature come as part of the second developer genus Beta of Io 18 earlier this week .
RCS is a message communications protocol that employ the cyberspace to let you send and welcome filing cabinet and high-pitched - timber image , see type indicator , get read receipts , start out radical New World chat and more . Until now , iPhone users could only send SMS or MMS message from the Messages app to people who did n’t have an Apple twist — you could share media , get interpret receipts and expend other features only with other Apple machine user via iMessage . With this update , iPhone users can start texting and sharing file with anyone who uses a gimmick that supports RCS , which include most Android phones .
However , messages from Android twist will still show up as light-green bubble in iMessage .
Support for RCS seems to be limited to U.S. carriers like T - Mobile , AT&T and Verizon for now . While users can see the toggle if they have put in the iOS 18 developer beta , the characteristic will only work if their roving carrier support RCS and has updated their web bundle for iOS 18 . Apple concisely advert thatiOS 18 would get RCS supportduring its Worldwide Developers Conference ( WWDC ) keynote earlier this calendar month .
