California residents can now store their driver ’s permission or state ID in their Apple Wallet apps , the state ’s governmentannouncedon Thursday . California begin allowingdigital IDs through Google Walletjust last calendar month .

Californians with an ID in the Apple Wallet or Google Wallet app can apply their wandering machine to present their ID in person at quality TSA security checkpoints and businesses . They can also habituate the app to assert their age or identity element in blue-ribbon apps .

Other states that already support digital number one wood ’s licenses and state IDs includeArizona , Colorado , Georgia , Maryland , and Ohio .

How to add your ID to Apple and Google Wallets

To load your ID into the Apple Wallet app , you need to tick on the “ + ” button at the top of the CRT screen in the app , then select “ Driver ’s License or State ID . ” From there , you need to follow the on - CRT screen pedagogy to start the frame-up and substantiation process .
