We ’re still well over a calendar month out fromWWDC , but Apple pass away ahead andsnuck in another effect . On Tuesday , May 7 at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET , the company is set to uncover the belated additions to the iPad line . According tothe hearsay factory , that list includes : a Modern iPad Pro , iPad Air , Apple Pencil and a keyboard case .
More surprisingly , the upshot may also see the launching of the Modern M4 chip , a lilliputian over six month after the companyunveiled three novel M3 chipsin one settle swoop . Why the quick silicon refresh ? Well , for starters , Scripture on the street is that Apple launch the M3 later than expected ( likely owe to supply concatenation issues ) , forcing the company to launch all three silicon chip at the same event .
Couple that with the fact thatMicrosoft is rumored to be launchingits own third - political party Si at Build at the end of May , and you bug out to understand why the company opted not to hold back . An announcement may be even more urgent , given that the Microsoft / ARM chips are pronounce to volunteer “ industry - precede performance ” — an unmistakable shot across Apple ’s fore . Could a new silicon chip also mean new Macs ? That would be a short refresh cycles/second for the current harvest , but it ’s certainly not out of the kingdom of possibility .
What does seem sealed , however , is a new iPad Pro with an OLED display , a 12.9 - inch iPad Air and newfangled gestures for the Apple Pencil . Also , expectplentyof AI chatter . It ’s 2024 , after all . you may watch along live at the link below , and stay tuned to TechCrunch for news as it breaks .
