As Apple enters the AI race , it ’s also looking for help from partners .
During theannouncement of Apple Intelligenceearlier this calendar month , Apple said it would be partnering with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT into the revamped version of Siri . Now the Wall Street Journalreportsthat Apple and Facebook ’s parent company Meta are in talks around a standardised pot .
These talks have reportedly not been finalise and could still fall through . Meta pass up to comment ; Apple did not like a shot respond .
As Sarah Perez noted , Apple ’s approach to AI currently sound a chip slow and practical — rather than care for this as an opportunity for wholesale reinvention or gap , it ’s start out by add up AI - powered features ( like writing suggestions and custom emojis ) to its existing products . But emphasizing practicality over flashiness might be the key to AI adoption . Then Apple can leverage partnership to go beyond the capabilities of its own AI models .
So a stack with Meta could make Apple less reliant on a unmarried married person , while also offer establishment for Meta ’s generative AI technical school . The WSJ reports that Apple is n’t offering to give for these partnership ; instead , it leave statistical distribution to AI partners who can then sell agiotage subscriptions .
And while Elon Musk , who co - establish OpenAI but is now competing with it throughhis new inauguration xAI , seemed so concerned about the possibility that ChatGPT would be deep integrated with Apple ’s operating systems that hethreatened to ban Apple devicesfrom his companies , Apple has said it will ask for users ’ permission before share any questions and data with ChatGPT . presumptively , any integrating with Meta would work similarly .
In another recent development , Apple has also said that while Apple Intelligence is set to roll out in the new version of its operating systems ( include iOS 18 , iPadOS 18 , and macOS Sequoia ) subsequently this yr , it plans tohold the technology back from the European Union , due to the EU ’s Digital Markets Act ( which is supposed to further competition in digital markets ) . It also said it will hold back iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay Screen Sharing .
