This is the third inauguration by Maor Goldberg , the company ’s co - founder and chief operating officer . He previously co - set up Whitebox Security , which he sold to SailPoint in 2015 , as well as container security measure startup Apolicy , which was acquired by Sysdig in 2021 . In 2024 , he leave Sysdig to start Backline together with Eran Leib ( master customer police officer ) and Aviad Chen ( VP R&D ) .
The idea behind Backline is that developers and certificate teams are drowning in security warning signal .
“ The one matter we ’ve realize incessantly , almost daylight - in , day - out , is that we as an diligence submerge with child organizations with problems , ” Goldberg said . “ They buy Sysdig , they buy Wizz , they corrupt Snyk — all of these nifty companies and great name . Their job is to go to customers and tell them where they have problems . The reality is that these security team are buy these tool , but they ca n’t situate most of these problems . ”
The security teams , after all , rely on technologist to fix vulnerability , for example , or on program applied science teams to desexualize misconfigurations .
“ There ’s always a motive for surety team to go and dog someone else in the constitution . And all of these teams , without exception , just do n’t have the time , ” he say .
Backline can essentially take notifications from all of these security tools and start remediating many of the issues . The service ’s AI federal agent look at the exposure , make a proposition for how to fix it , implement the necessary change , and then test them .

This testing step is all-important , Backline says , and was cheer by the way hardware team use formal methods to test their production . This , Goldberg said , is the only direction to sire trust with potential users .
To do this , the company uses off - the - ledge big language models ( LLMs ) . “ All of our intellectual property is progress around pick up where [ the security scanning creature ] exit off . There is a in high spirits - priority job that needs to be addressed . A lot of [ this is about ] remember about agents , how you get together together and how you bring the right people into the operation , ” Goldberg explained .
Backline ’s ambition go beyond its current remediation of computer software vulnerabilities . Looking beforehand , the caller wants to tackle software supply chain issues like regain expose secrets , fixing identity and access issues , and still program surety testing .
“ surety backlogs are now the number one thing keeping CISOs up at night , ” said Tal Slobodkin , managing pardner at StageOne Ventures , and a backer of the founding team ’s late startup . “ Backline ’s deep cybersecurity expertness combined with their imaginativeness for sovereign remedy present a means out of the prioritization paradigm through multiple order of magnitude betterment in remediation speed . We have n’t verbalize to a single constitution that take to have their security backlog fully under ascendence , which signals just how significant this opportunity is . ”
