The British Broadcasting Corporation has filed a complaint with a U.K. antitrust regulator complain that aggregators like Apple News and Google News minimize credit for the stories they sport .
“ If audience derive note value from our content and services but attribute that value to gatekeepers instead of the BBC , then that undermines the perceived time value of the BBC , ” the broadcaster wrote in its ill .
That perceived value may be particularly important to the BBC because it derives the legal age of its support from a license fee pay by British households — so it ’s authoritative that the spreader ’s work be visible and appraise so as to maintain support for the fee .
