Popular Los Angeles - based marihuana brand Stiiizy has confirmed that hackers accessed reams of sensitive customer data , including administration - issued document and aesculapian marijuana card , during a November cyberattack .

Ina data severance noticefiled with California ’s attorney general this week , Stiiizy said it was notify by its point - of - sale processing vendor that an “ organized cybercrime group ” had compromise the data from some of its retail locations .

In a alphabetic character sent to affected customers , Stiiizy confirmed that the hackers acquired client data processed from the unnamed vendor between October 10 and November 10 , 2024 .

Stiiizy enjoin the steal information included information on customer ’ number one wood ’s licenses , passports , and medical cannabis cards . hacker also accessed customer names , addresses , date of birth , dealings datum , and other unspecified personal information .

Stiiizy , which operates 39 store across the United States , has not yet said how many of its client were affected but said the incident impact four of its retail emplacement in California . Stiiizy did not answer to TechCrunch ’s question .

Stiiizy has n’t confirmed or described the nature of the incident , but Texas - based cybersecurity startup Halcyon AI said in aNovember blog postthat the marihuana operator had been the target of a ransomware flack .

The Everest ransomware mathematical group claim credit for the cyberattack , according to Halcyon , which said the gang had stolen the personal data , including designation document , of more than 420,000 Stiiizy customers .

In a post on its sullen web outflow site , which TechCrunch has seen , Everest claims to have publish the data stolen from Stiiizy after the companionship “ ignored ” its ransom money demands .
