Now that the election is over , the dissection can begin . As this is the first election in which AI chatbots played a significant part of voters ’ entropy diets , even approximate numbers are interesting to cerebrate about . For representative , OpenAI has say that it told around 2 million user of ChatGPT to go look somewhere else .

It did n’t just give them a moth-eaten articulatio humeri , but recommended some trust news sources like Reuters and the Associated Press . ChatGPT gave this type of “ I ’m just an AI , go record the factual news ” response over 2 million meter on Election Day and the mean solar day after , OpenAI explained inan update to a blog poston its elections approach .

In the calendar month leading up to election , ChatGPT charge around a million masses to CanIVote.org when they asked question specific to balloting . And interestingly , it also rejected some 250,000 requests to generate figure of the nominee over the same period .

For equivalence , Perplexity , the AI lookup locomotive engine , made a major push button topromote its own election informationhub , result in some 4 million pageboy views , the fellowship claim ( per Bloomberg ) .

It ’s difficult to say whether these numbers are crushed or high . Certainly they are nowhere near leader in the news : CNN ’s digital propertiessaw around 67 million unique visitorson Election Day and a standardised amount the day after .

But dealings is a dodgy metric at the best of metre . What matters this year is not that CNN have 10 times the traffic as these two AI platforms put together , but that it got only 10 times the dealings . Millions of people were interested enough , and trusted AI companies enough , to at least ask or give their election knowledge a shot .

While OpenAI ’s bid was the safe one , andPerplexity may have pulled off a risky bet , the AI diligence in general is credibly ecstatic about the fact that there was no serious gaffe by any of the braggy brand ( except xAI , of course ) and that users considered these chatbots and AI - powered platform worthful as Election Day resource .
