The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency ( CISA ) saidin a brief statementMonday that there is “ no indication ” that any other U.S. federal means was hacked during a recent cyberattack at the U.S. Treasury Department in December .
TheTreasury confirmed the break on December 30 , attributing the encroachment to China authorities - back hackers , tell senior U.S. lawmakersin a letterthat the hackers had outside access to Treasury employee workstations and access to unclassified documents . The letter said the hackers obtained a private key from one of its technology vendors , BeyondTrust , which the section uses for remote proficient financial support . It ’s not yet readable how the BeyondTrust cay was steal . The Washington Post report last week that the hackersspecifically targetedtheTreasury ’s global sanctions government agency .
