DoorDash hasagreed to compensate $ 16.75 millionto settle a case by New York ’s lawyer general that accused the obstetrical delivery platform of pocketing prole ’ tips to report reward .
The lawsuit alleged that between May 2017 and September 2019 , DoorDash used client tips to offset the theme earnings it had already guaranteed to worker , instead of giving worker the full tips they received . The lawsuit stated that customers were also misinform into believe their bakshis would now benefit delivery worker .
Around 63,000 New York DoorDash delivery worker stick out to profit from the settlement .
“ We remain committed to making certain that Dasher wage are always fair and transparent , and the allegations settled were related to an old pay example that was retired in 2019 , ” DoorDash said in a statement to TechCrunch .
