Meta is lay to start expose eBay itemisation in its own Facebook Marketplace classifieds platform , in an travail to appease European regulator .
Back in November , Meta was off with a € 798 million fineby the European Commission ( EC ) in Europe for breaching antimonopoly rules . The EC contended that Meta make “ unfair trading conditions ” by connecting Facebook Marketplace to its core societal internet . By doing so , Meta gained a “ substantial distribution advantage , ” while some of its classifieds competitors also advertise their ware on Facebook — data that Meta could also use to the “ sole benefit of Facebook Marketplace . ”
Meta has previously said it would invoke this fine , but aBloomberg report todaynotes that it also will go testing a raw service that will enable Facebook Marketplace drug user to browse eBay listings , connect directly through to eBay to dispatch the dealings .
Curiously , Bloomberg reports that in addition to Germany and France , the test will also be launched in its domestic U.S. mart , which is beyond the purview of European regulator .
