Nvidia and Foxconn are working together to build so - called “ AI factories , ” a novel family of data point centers that promise to provide supercomputing powers to speed up the development of ego - drive cars , autonomous machine and industrial robots .

Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang and Foxconn chairwoman and CEO Young Liu announced the quislingism at Hon Hai Tech Day in Taiwan on Tuesday . The AI manufactory is base off an Nvidia GPU calculation infrastructure that will be built to process , elaborate and transform vast sum of information into valuable AI models and selective information .

“ We ’re progress this entire closing - to - end system of rules where on the one hand , you ’re build this sophisticated EV railroad car … with an AI brain inside that allows it to interact with drivers and interact with passenger , as well as autonomously drive , complemented by an AI manufactory that grow a computer software for this railway car , ” said Huang onstage at the effect . “ This car will go through animation experience and hoard more data . The data will go to the AI factory , where the AI factory will better the software package and update the full AI fleet . ”

The AI factory tie - up   builds off a partnership between Nvidia and Foxconn announced in January todevelop autonomous vehicle platform . That agreement involved Foxconn becoming a chief supplier of electronic control condition units ( ECUs ) for carmaker , which will be build withNvidia ’s Drive Orin scheme - on - a - chip(SoC ) , a supercomputing AI platform that supports autonomous drive functions . On Tuesday , Foxconn also committed to fabrication ECUs withDrive Thor , Nvidia ’s next - gen SoC , after yield starts in 2025 .

As part of that partnership , Foxconn — which has been steadily unveilingoff - the - ledge EV platformsfor automakers to purchase — said the vehicles it makes as a contract manufacturer will be work up with Nvidia ’s Drive Hyperion 9 platform , which includes not only force Thor , but also a suite of sensors like camera , radar , lidar and supersonic that are necessary for self - driving capacity .

Foxconn is already abbreviate tobuild EVs for Fisker , even as it getssued by its erstwhile partner Lordstown Motors . The auto manufacturer will need plate to make its AI factories viable , especially if it ’s going to compete with Tesla .

Because these AI factory are essentially rivals to Tesla ’s Dojo supercomputer , which the Elon Musk - owned automakerstarted production on over the summer . Dojo will groom Tesla ’s neural lucre , which are used to power , train and improve “ full ego - drive ” ( FSD ) , the automaker ’s ripe number one wood assistance organization .
