Google take away a toast to not build AI for weapons or surveillance from its website this hebdomad . The modification was first spotted byBloomberg . The company appears to have updated its public AI principle page , erasing a section titled “ app we will not pursue , ” which wasstill includedas recently as last week .
Asked for comment , the ship’s company pointed TechCrunch toa fresh web log poston “ responsible AI . ” It notes , in part , “ we believe that companies , regime , and brass sharing these values should crop together to create AI that protects the great unwashed , promote ball-shaped development , and bear national surety . ”
Google’snewly updated AI principlesnote the company will turn to “ palliate unintended or harmful outcomes and avoid unjust diagonal , ” as well as align the company with “ widely accepted principles of external law and human right . ”
In recent years , Google ’s contracts to allow the U.S. and Israeli militaries with cloud services havesparked internal protests from employees . The companionship has maintained that its AI is not used to harm humans ; however , the Pentagon ’s AI chief recently tell TechCrunch thatsome company ’s AI models are speeding up the U.S. military ’s killing chain .
