Google ’s upgrading its image - generation technical school to keep apace with contender .
At the society ’s I / O developer league in Mountain View on Tuesday , Google harbinger Imagen 3 , the latest in the technical school giant’sImagengenerative AI modelfamily .
Demis Hassabis , CEO of DeepMind , Google ’s AI enquiry division , said that Imagen 3 more accurately understands the text prompts that it translates into image versus its forerunner , Imagen 2 , and is more “ originative and detailed ” in its generation . In addition , the model farm few “ distracting artifacts ” and error , he said .
“ This is [ also ] our best model yet for rendering text , which has been a challenge for image - generation models , ” Hassabis added .

Google typically does n’t unveil much about the source of the information it expend to train its AI role model — and this time was no elision . There ’s a reasonableness for that . Much of the training data come from public situation , deposit and datasets around the web . And some of that training data point , specifically the copyrighted data scraped without permission from content creators , is a source ofIP - interrelate lawsuits .

Google ’s web newspaper publisher controls allow webmaster to preclude the company from scraping data , including photo and TV , from their web site . But Google does n’t propose an “ opt - out ” pecker , and — unlikesome of its rivals — the company has n’t committed to compensating right holders for their ( in some cases unknowing ) contributions to the training datasets .
The lack of transparence is n’t surprising . But it is unsatisfying — especially from a company with resources like Google ’s .
