British engineering troupe IMI has disclosed a cybersecurity incident just days afterrival firm Smiths reported it was targeted by hacker .
IMI , a Birmingham - based firm that designs and manufactures products for industrial automation , transfer , and clime command , said in afiling with the London Stock Exchangeon Thursday that it is “ presently responding to a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access code to the company ’s systems . ”
London - number IMI said the company has “ engage external cybersecurity experts to look into and contain the incident ” and sound out it is taking “ necessary steps to comply with our regulative obligation . ”
When inquire by TechCrunch , IMI declined to notice on the nature of the incident and has n’t said whether any company data was exfiltrated . However , Lucy Milburn at the U.K. ’s Information Commissioner ’s Office differentiate TechCrunch that it had received a information rupture report from IMI and is “ assess the entropy supply . ”
U.K.-based engineering giant Smiths Group said last calendar week that it was work to “ go back ” touch organization following unauthorized accession to its net .
