India ’s Election Commission has issue an advisory to all political parties , urging them to refrain from using deepfakes and other forms of misinformation in their social medium Emily Post during the land ’s on-going ecumenical elections . The move comes after the constitutional body faced criticism for not doing enough to battle such campaigns in the cosmos ’s most thickly settled nation .
The advisory , released on Monday(PDF ) , command political parties to take out any deepfake audio or video within three hours of becoming aware of its existence . Parties are also propose to identify and warn the mortal responsible for creating the manipulated content . The Election Commission ’s action mechanism follows a Delhi High Court order asking the organic structure to correct the matter after the military issue was raised in a petition .
