Instacart CEOFidji Simois joining OpenAI as CEO of Applications , the ChatGPT God Almighty say on Thursday . Simo , already a board memberat OpenAI , will transition out of Instacart over the next few month and fall in the AI company full - time later on this year .
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said he would continue in his role , oversee vertical like enquiry , compute , and applications . Simo will directly report to Altman .

Simo has years of experience in product management and monetization . Before joining Instacart in 2021 , she drop more than a decade at Meta , lead the launching of ads on the News Feed ; heading monetisation for the Facebook app ; overseeing mathematical product development for Facebook Video ; and helping make its advertising business sector . She decease Meta as principal of the Facebook app . After joining Instacart , she help take the companypublic in 2023 .
In a postal service on X , Simo said she wouldstay on as chair of the Instacart plug-in . Ina letter to Instacart employees , she said a current member of the caller ’s management would substitute her as chief executive officer , and an announcement would be made presently .
