Grocery - delivery behemoth Instacartannouncedtoday that it ’s laying off around 250 employees , or roughly 7 % of its global workforce , as part of a restructuring . Instacart chief operating officer Fidji Simo said in a missive to investor that the layoffs will allow the company to streamline how it operates . The company announce the layoff alongside the release of its 4th - twenty-five percent earnings .

“ Today , we made the tough decision to part with approximately 250 of our gifted squad phallus , ” Simo wrote in the letter . “ This will allow us to remold the company and flatten the organization so we can focus on our most hopeful initiatives that we believe will transform our company and industry over the long - terminal figure . I am confident this will enable us to execute with even more nidus and efficiency move onward . ”

In an SEC filing , Instacart said the layoff will permit it to better align its organisational structure with current “ business needs , top strategic priority , and key growth opportunity . ” The society had a sum of 3,486 employees as of June 30 , 2023 , agree to a regulatory filing .
