eversion Spaceis aptly named . The three - year - old inauguration ’s elementary worry is not getting thing to space , but bring them back — transmute the ultimate gamey ground into “ a transportation bed for Earth . ”

Ray is small — about twice the diam of a standard frisbee — and will spend anywhere from one to five weeks in space , depending on element like weather and how the orbit aligns with the landing place website , Inversion CEO Justin Fiaschetti explain in a recent consultation .
This first mission will have three phases : the initial on - sphere stage , where the ballistic capsule will power on , burden its shelling and hopefully post telemetry to the priming . Impressively , the company has designed and build almost all of the Ray vehicle in - house , from the propulsion organisation to the body structure to the chute . “ The aim of our Ray vehicle is to develop technology for our next - gen fomite .
