Bluesky ’s most prominent angel has depart its board .
On Saturday , Jack Dorsey post on XTC about grants for open protocols from his philanthropic Start pocket-sized initiative . This remind someone to ask Dorsey if he was still on the Bluesky board , and herespondedwith a curt “ no . ” Dorsey did not answer any of the succeed - up posts asking him to explain his departure .

It ’s not clear when Dorsey depart the board ; as of Sunday dawn , Bluesky ’s corporate FAQstill name him as a board member . Later that afternoon , the companypublished the following statement :
We sincerely give thanks Jack for his assistance funding and lead up the bluesky labor . Today , Bluesky is thrive as an open origin social web run on atproto , the decentralised protocol we have build .
With Jack ’s departure , we are searching for a new table member for the Bluesky public welfare company who shares our commitment to build a societal web that puts masses in command of their experience . More to come !
Dorseyfirst announced Blueskyin 2019 , back when he was still CEO of Twitter . He wrote that Twitter ( now X ) was “ funding a small independent team of up to five open source architects , engineers , and designers to develop an exposed and decentralized standard for societal spiritualist . ”
Since then , Bluesky has become an main public benefit corp , run by CEO Jay Graber , with VC backing , and itopened to the general publicin February .
Dorsey appears to have deleted his Bluesky account at some point last twelvemonth , though his release was only acknowledged at the time by asmattering of social media posts . ( He alsodeleted his Instagram business relationship . ) Despite this , he remainedthe biggest name associated with the labor .
Back on X , Dorsey has had a pretty participating weekend .
