LG has acquired an 80 % stake in Athom , a Dutch smart home company and maker of the homelike smart home hub . According to LG ’s announcement , it will buy the remain 20 % of Athom within the next three years . However , the fiscal term of the passel were not disclosed .
LG plans to integrate Athom ’s homy platform , which connect thousands of appliances , sensors and lighting machine , with its LG ThinQ platform .
In apress handout , LG said the integration will create an “ AI home that deliver optimal place solutions by gain a deeper understanding of the client . ” The integrating will allow customers to make a individualized environment tailor-make to their preferences , the party says .
Athom will continue to operate as an independent party following the acquisition , maintaining its business operations and stigmatization . Both the troupe ’s founders , Emile Nijssen and Stefan Witkamp , will stay on as executive of Athom .
Founded in 2014 , Athom put up its smart nursing home hub Homey and cloud subscription services to hundred of thousands of users chiefly in Europe . Since 2023 , the society ’s twist have also been available in Australia , Singapore , the United States and Canada .
