Matrix is rebranding its India and China affiliate , becoming the tardy venture firm to distance its international franchises .
The U.S.-headquartered venture capital letter house will retain its name , while Matrix Partners India will rebrand to Z47 and Matrix Partners China will rename itself MPC . Matrix begin start the India affiliated fund in 2006 and the China fund in 2008 .
The unexpected rebranding adopt consequence July 1 . Notably , Matrix ’s announcement referred to its India and China surgical process as “ entities run under the Matrix name ” rather than as its own whole .
Matrix Partners India stated that the rebrand will not affect its operational social structure , be funds , or scheme . The novel name take on intake from India ’s journey toward becoming a developed country by 2047 , it say .
Matrix is set about the “ renaming and organizational update ” to “ clarify the local approaching each of these teams has taken to operate on in each of their geographies since inception and the organisational independency of each team , ” Matrix Partners said in a post .
The venture house said each team ’s leaders has “ operated with separate decision - devising and part back offices from origination . ”
The move follow Sequoia’ssplitting of its India and Southeast Asia and China unitslast year amid geopolitical tension between China and the U.S.
