May Mobility , an self-governing vehicle engineering science startup , reveal atCES 2025the next vehicle in its portfolio : an electric , sovereign minibus made in partnership with European galvanizing motorbus producer Tecnobus .
Ann Arbor - basedMay Mobilityoffers on - requirement and fix - route autonomous shuttles on campus and in planned communities . Today its fleet consists of 40 Toyota Sienna minivan that have been retrofit with May ’s software and hardware self - drive stack , and can sit down up to eight passengers . The Tecnobus fomite , which May says will join its fleet of Siennas in previous 2026 , can take up to 30 passengers , including passengers with wheelchairs .
May Mobility says its Tecnobus minibus is contrive for urban transit , corporate campus , airports , and planned communities , with swappable batteries that minimize downtime . The ship’s company also said its approaching bus is approved for use in Europe and Canada .
TechCrunch has asked May Mobility how many of these buses it mean to add up to its fleet , and in which grocery store .
