Microsoft is laying off around 650 employee from its gaming sectionalization , grant to an internal memo shared onlineby IGN . The latest cut come eight months afterthe company pose off 1,900 in its play part , following its$68.7 billion acquirement of Activision Blizzard .

In Xbox chief Phil Spencer ’s memo to staff , he notes that the new slash are also related to the acquisition .

“ As part of aligning our post - acquisition squad structure and managing our business organization , we have made the determination to eliminate approximately 650 role across Microsoft Gaming — mostly corporate and supporting subprogram — to organize our business for long terminus success , ” the memo reads .

Microsoft has not responded to TechCrunch ’s request for scuttlebutt .
