Mitsubishi Motors is in talk with Taiwan - base Foxconn ’s electric vehicle division to source an OEM galvanising cable car model that the Japanese auto manufacturer project to sell in Australia and New Zealand in the latter one-half of 2026 .
Mitsubishi said on Wednesday that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Foxtron Vehicle Technologies to develop the EV and would agree further discussions to turn over an agreement . Foxtron is a joint speculation between Foxconn and Taiwan - based Yulon Motor Co. , which assemble and makes cars for Nissan .
Mitsubishi and Nissan are also tapping theirthree - way alliance with Renaultto augment their EV lineups in North America . Mitsubishi say it will set off selling a rebadged version of the Nissan Leaf electric car in the 2nd one-half of 2026 in North America , while Nissan would deal a rebranded fire hydrant - in intercrossed electric vehicle model made by Mitsubishi , also in North America , next year .
Mitsubishi say it would also sell rebranded EV models made by Renault in Europe .
