U.S. entree and identity management titan Okta has said it is laying off approximately 400 employee , or 7 % of its spheric men .

The layoff do almost exactly a year to the day after Oktaannounced plans to reduce its workforce by 5 % , about 300 employees .

In an email send to employee , which Okta shared with TechCrunch , Okta chief executive Todd McKinnon said that the decisiveness was necessary for the San Francisco - based organization to get profitably . Okta , which counts more than 18,000 customers , post better - than - expected quarterly earnings in November , with revenue increasing 21 % to $ 584 million .
