SoundHound , an AI company that makes vocalism interface technical school used by car company , restaurants and tech house , is doubling down on enterprise services by take on consolidator in a crowded mart . The society said on Thursday that it is acquiringAmelia AI , which makes an AI agent that business enterprise can customise for intragroup or customer manipulation .
SoundHound is pay $ 80 million in hard cash and fairness for Amelia . It ’s not clean what the latter ’s evaluation was prior to the deal , but according toPitchBook , Amelia had raised at least $ 189 million , including a $ 175 million investiture in March 2023 from BuildGroup ( PitchBook lists several investments , include two of undisclosed value ) .
Amelia’scustomersinclude BNP Paribas , the pharma company Teva and Fujitsu . SoundHound said the two will together have some 200 client , including big banks and Fortune 500 companies , and expects to see gross of $ 150 million in 2025 . SoundHound is in public traded and has had a bumpy drive since list . When it initially went public via aSPAC merger in 2021 , the company had a rating of $ 2.1 billion . Butin 2023 , it laid off nearly half its employees and raised some extra support to land up its post . Its market position looks stronger in 2024 — its currentmarket capis around $ 1.4 billion compared with less than $ 300 million in January 2023 . However , analysts stillexpect the company to reporta loss when it announces quarterly results today .
The deal will see SoundHound assuming debt accrued by Amelia . The combined society will have $ 160 million in immediate payment and $ 39 million in debt when the deal close up .
Both SoundHound and Amelia know something about the foresightful game in AI . SoundHound has been around since 2005 , and Amelia was plant all the way back in 1998 as IPsoft , during the first wave of cyberspace businesses . Its father , Chetan Dube , is still its CEO .
