Hello and receive back to TechCrunch Space . For those who have n’t heard , the first crew launching of Boeing ’s Starliner ejector seat has been pushed back yet again to no sooner than May 25 .

From NASA : “ The additional clock time allows team to further valuate a small helium wetting in the Boeing Starliner space vehicle ’s service module traced to a flange on a exclusive response ascendancy organisation thruster . ”

Better safe than sorry , of course , but I ca n’t say I ’m not eager to see this very , very expensive , very delayed capsule fly .

programming preeminence : TechCrunch Space will be off on May 27 in observation of Memorial Day . I ’ll see you back here June 3 .

Story of the week

This is n’t huge news or anything , but I thought it was really nerveless that Intuitive Machines basically support that it has been in conversation with NASA over how the company could habituate its tech to support the Mars Sample Return ( MSR ) missionary station . MSR has been scramble with ballooning price and an overly complex architecture , and it ’s exactly the sort of in high spirits - risk , high - wages mission that private manufacture could excel at execute .

What we’re reading

“ What we ’re reading ” is once again “ what we ’re check . ” This workweek , I want tohighlyrecommend this interview with engineer and economic expert Sinéad O’Sullivan . She has a … bearish … take on the blank diligence , but I think it ’s need listening for kinsfolk who could perhaps gain from a reality check .

This week in space history

It feel a minute cruel to bring this up in the same issue that I mention another Starliner time lag , BUT 12 class ago on May 22 SpaceX launch its 2nd test - flight of its cargo Dragon spacecraft . ( Hey ! Starliner is crewed ! It ’s different ! ) SpaceX has now completed nine loading missions to the International Space Station .
