This week in AI , OpenAI revealed that it’sexploringhow to “ responsibly ” generate AI smut . But I ’m not sure we can swear OpenAI — or any generative AI vendor , for that matter — to get it ripe .
Consider the creators ’ rights angle , for one . OpenAI ’s models have been train on immense amounts of public web message , some undoubtedly pornographic in nature . But OpenAI has n’t license all this content — or even allowed creators to opt out of training until relatively recently ( and even then , only certain forms of breeding ) .
It ’s ruffianly to make a living in adult message , and were OpenAI to take AI - generate porn mainstream , there ’d be even blind drunk rivalry facing creators — challenger built on the back of those creators ’ works , not for nothing .
The other problem in my mind is the fallibility of current safeguards . OpenAI and challenger have been refining their filtering and moderation instrument for age . But user constantly discover workarounds that enable them to ill-treat the companies ’ AI models , apps and platforms .
Just in January , Microsoft was pressure to make changes to its Designer persona origination peter , which knock OpenAI models , after user found a mode to create au naturel images of Taylor Swift .
