InstagramThreads , Meta ’s competition to Elon Musk ’s X , is testing a style to make your response to others ’ post less visible on the chopine .
The company is adding a novel privacy feature that leave you to customize your visibility to remove the tab that displays your replies . This leave behind only the two tabs that show position and reposts .
The summation offers an pick to make your visibility and use of Threads more private , without experience to switch to a to the full private profile , which would circumscribe the visibility of your posts to only your following and those you choose to reply to .
While Threads ’ main “ For You ” feed extend a premix of Post , include replies , they ’re less likely to be surfaced by the algorithm , which already reduces their visibility . offer a feature that turns off the power for others to surf your replies on your visibility would make them even more unmanageable for others to surface .
The feature was first spot by Threads user andreverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi , who said the option was rolling out to the iOS app . An Instagram interpreter confirmed to TechCrunch that the selection to show or enshroud response was something the fellowship had of late started testing with a “ little number of people , ” and had not yet publicly launch .
To see if you have the feature , you may sink in the “ Edit Profile ” push on your Threads user profile and then scroll down to the alternative labeled “ Show your reply . ” By default , this is enabled , but you could choose to toggle it off . The society notes that even if you disable show your replies publicly , you’re able to still view your replies from the Threads app preferences , where you’re able to also view other types of contentedness like your Saved item , Likes , Archive , and more .
This is not the only control around Replies that Threads has introduced . The company previously launched a way to limit who can reply to your posts , allowing you to choose between anyone , profiles you adopt , or those you ’ve mentioned only — exchangeable to X.
