Five years ago , Toyota chairwoman Akio Toyoda went to CES to share with the worldly concern his “ personal field of dreams ” — a plan tobuild a prototype cityon a 175 - acre site at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan , where mass would experience and shape amongst all of Toyota ’s project , including autonomous vehicle technology , robotics , smart home - connected engineering , and AI .
Toyoda will return to CES , the annual tech deal show in Las Vegas , this yr to finally unwrap his “ living science laboratory , ” name Woven City . The Toyota jam conference , in which Chairman Toyoda will have a starring role , will be held at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET on January 6 during CES media sidereal day . In a picture thatteases the approaching case , Toyoda dons a hard hat and rubber vest as he heads into a modern multistoried building . He make it on an upper storey and then remove the protective covering of the windowpane , revealing Mount Fuji in the background and call out “ Welcome to Woven City ! ”
Details are slight about exactly what will be bring out . TechCrunch , which was at the initial announcement in 2020 , will be watching to see how startup will be incorporated into Woven City and whether Toyota fall out through on its plans to build a fully connected ecosystem power by hydrogen fuel cells .
