President Donald Trump nominated Sean Plankey to head the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency ( CISA ) , according to a White House e-mail sent to journalist on Tuesday .
Plankey has several years of experience working for the U.S. government . In 2013 , Plankey yield cybersecurity funding to U.S. forces deploy in Afghanistan , then worked at U.S. Cyber Command , the U.S. Coast Guard , and the U.S. Navy . He also worked in the previous Trump administration as a director for cyber policy on the White House ’s National Security Council and afterwards at the Department of Energy , according to Plankey ’s LinkedIn .
Plankey did not react to a request for comment send via LinkedIn .
CISA was previously lead by Jen Easterly , who leave the agencyjust prior to the beginning of the new Trump term in January . During his first term , Trump fire CISA ’s initiatory theatre director , Chris Krebs , for disputing Trump ’s fictive claim about election fraud .
Plankey ’s nomination go to the Senate for a vote . A date for the vote was not immediately provided .
