Afterscaling back operationsand reassigning staff to other projects , Tumblr owner Automattic ’s chief operating officer Matt Mullenweg said that the companywould home in on the contribution of Tumblr ’s servicethat crop and kill those that did n’t — as it didwith the subscription offering , Post+last calendar month . Now the company wants to focus on the former by launching a Modern characteristic that capitalizes on something Tumblr already does well : aid people find community . Today , the Tumblr Labs division announced the launching of “ Communities , ” an experimental lineament that offers a novel , dedicated infinite on the weapons platform for people to connection around topics of interest , separate from the main dashboard .
Meanwhile , the interaction that take place in a community will remain separated from Tumblr ’s broader web .
