Vanta , a trust management platform that helps business automatize much of their security and compliance processes , today announced that it has raise a $ 150 million Series C financing round direct by Sequoia Capital .
The company is now valued at $ 2.45 billion , up from $ 1.6 billion in 2022 when itraised its $ 40 million Series B round . Earlier this yr , Vanta announced that it had surpassed $ 100 million in ARR in its financial class cease in January .
Initially , Vanta focused on facilitate businesses obtain ISO 27001 , HIPAA , SOC 2 , and similar credentials . Now the company is aiming to go beyond that . Vanta co - founder and CEO Christina Cacioppo tell me that while Vanta obviously started with a focus on automated compliance , specially for startup , it is now moving to become part of a larger and more holistic discourse about trust .
“ Vanta today , we still do a lot of SOC 2 , but a sight of what we ’re work up is around how do you facilitate companies construct out their protection programs ? ” Cacioppo narrate me . “ And then how do they go get credit ? There ’s a compliance piece , there ’s the trustfulness center , there ’s material - fourth dimension surety status Page and questionnaire mechanization , but the dissertation behind a lot of that is : if you could give people citation — which really mean tax income — for evidence off all the well surety workplace they ’ve done , they will do more dependable protection work . … When we talk about reliance , a lot of trust in package , especially B2B software , it ’s around : Can I trust you with my customers ’ data ? ”
She noted that a customer like Omni Hotels , for lesson , does n’t necessarily come to Vanta because they need help with compliancy , as they do n’t really build their own computer software . But they do hold a lot of client data in third - party peter and they need aid in making certain that those tools are secure and trusty .
As a part of this direction on trust , Vanta is also building some of its own security department tools . It ’s doing this not to compete with the ilk of CrowdStrike , Cacioppo said ( and this was before last week’sCrowdStrike disaster ) , but to help companies ascertain that when they make a claim about , say , which employees have memory access to a given dataset , they can certify that this is indeed the case on a profoundly expert level .
Often this also means construction desegregation into subsist security tools . So far , Cacioppo said , Vanta has built around 200 of these in - house and another 100 party or so have also built their own .

Naturally , the society also has an AI manoeuvre . Vanta launch its first AI products last yr and it now wait to increase its use of turgid speech models .
For deterrent example , the company recently launched its questionnaire automation serve . Many companies use security review questionnaires when they bring new vendors on board , for example . These take evermore to fill out , in part because the information live in so many different systems . The estimation here then is to automate all of this — with humans in the loop — and so far , Vanta ’s caliber metric unit show that about 80 % of the solution the tool provides are directly accepted by the human reviewers . A large number of the missing 20 % requires only minor phraseology change .
“ It is an software of LLMs that is actually useful , actually saving people prison term , [ doing piece of work ] that , in fact , no one wanted to do , at least from a blank page , ” Cacioppo said .
With this newfangled funding , Vanta plans to go along to go upmarket as it branch out from its startup roots ( and even today , three - quarters of the current YC age group uses Vanta ) . In total , the troupe now has over 8,000 customer . But the company also plans to use the new funding to build out its AI product ( a coarse tenor voice among startups these days ) and to increase its global front . Vanta currently has 500 employee with a regional focus on North America , the U.K. , Germany and Australia , and about a quartern of Vanta ’s client are now outside of the U.S.
Modern investor in the round let in Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives and J.P. Morgan . Existing investors Atlassian Ventures , Craft Ventures , CrowdStrike Ventures , HubSpot Ventures , Workday Ventures and Y Combinator also participated in this round , which brings the company ’s total funding to $ 354 million since its launching in 2018 .
