Google has been taking estrus for some of the inaccurate , odd and downright weird answers that it ’s been providing via AI Overviews in search .
AI Overviews are the AI - generated hunting results thatGoogle started wave out more broadlyearlier this month , with mixed consequence — apparently , a user looking for service in getting tall mallow to stick to their pizza pie was told toadd glue(the advice was pulled froman old Reddit place ) , and someone else was told to eat up “ one low rock per day ” ( fromThe onion plant ) .

But control all these AI hunting event made me wonder : What are they actuallyfor ? Even if everything was work perfectly , how would they be better than regular web search ?
Clearly , Google is trying to bring users the answer they need without making them scroll through multiple web page . In fact , the companywrote that in other testsof AI Overviews , “ people use lookup more , and are more satisfied with the result . ”

But the idea of killing the “ 10 blue liaison ” isan quondam one . And while Google has already made them less central , I think it would be previous to forget those blue links for good .
Let ’s take a very ego - serving search : “ what is techcrunch ” grant me a summary that’smostlyaccurate , but weirdly padded like a student trying to encounter a page count minimum , with dealings telephone number that seemed to follow froma Yale career internet site .
