It ’s been a busy weekend for unification organizing efforts at U.S. Apple stores , with the union at one store voting to clear a ten-strike , while workers at another store voted against forming a brotherhood .

Back in 2022 , workers in Towson , Maryland , becamethe first formally realise union at an Apple retail store . That union , which is part of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers , voted Saturday toauthorize a strike . The date of this likely strike has yet to be determined .

“ This vote today is the first whole tone in shew our solidarity and sends a unmortgaged message to Apple , ” said the IAM CORE Negotiating Committee in a command . “ The passage of the strike warrant right to vote highlights IAM CORE ’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights and well - being of workers in the face of challenges . As discourse with Apple management continue , we persist committed to securing tangible advance that profit all employees . ”

The union allege it has been negotiate with Apple since January 2023 over issues such as work - life balance , unpredictable scheduling , and wages .

“ We deeply value our team members and we ’re proud to provide them with industry lead compensation and exceptional benefits , ” an Apple spokespersontold Bloomberg . “ As always , we will operate with the union representing our team in Towson respectfully and in skilful faith . ”

Bloomberg also reported that a right to vote to unionize a Short Hills , New Jersey , store with the Communications Workers of America ( CWA ) has die . Before the vote , the CWAfiled an unfair labor exercise chargeagainst Apple for allegedly retaliating against one of the organizers at the store by schedule “ unprecedented multiple coming together with his supervisory program and denying asking for leave-taking . ”

In a statement , the CWA say , “ Once again , Apple has failed to respect the right of its employees to freely choose to fall in a unification . or else of leave the decision up to the workers themselves , the company turned to its common anti - union playbook to influence the solution of the election . ”

The CWA also said that this is “ not an isolated event ” : Earlier this week , the National Labor Relations Board govern thatApple violated federal task lawsin 2022 by confiscating union flyers and interrogating faculty about unionizing efforts at the Apple computer memory in New York ’s World Trade Center .
