X said today that it will now label parody or satire visibility to differentiate them from other accounts . In the past , users , including news presenter , have mistaken posts from parody accounts as authentic financial statement made by the literal people or entities .
X allege that the label would be visible on both accounts and posts .
“ We ’re rolling out profile label for spoof account to intelligibly distinguish these case of accounts and their subject matter on our platform . We design these label to increase foil and to ensure that user are not deceived into recall such accounts go to the entity being parodied , ” it saidin a post .
In November , a couple ofreverse engineerspointed out thatX was working on such labels .
Currently accounts on X have to employ the recording label themselves . They can do that by going toSettings and Privacy > Your write up > Account informationand select the “ Parody , comment and fan story ” alternative .
“ Parody , Fan , and Commentary ( PCF ) labels are selected by people on X to indicate that the account show another individual , group , or organization in their visibility to discuss , satirize , or share information about that entity . This label key out these accounts to ensure they do not make confusion for others or falsely inculpate any tie , ” the verbal description ofthe label reads .
The societal connection added that it would shortly share details about when these labels will become mandatory for spoof accounts .
